A sandbar just about a kilometer/ 10 minute banka (boat) ride from Mambajao is White Island Camiguin. The horseshoe shaped island is composed solely of white sands but the tide constantly reshapes its exact form.
The whole stretch of Mt. Hibok-hibok and Mt. Vulcan forming a silhouette of a pregnant women is unobstructed and can be clearly seen from the island.
There are stalls selling sodas, water and snacks in the island. Beach mats, beach umbrellas and tables for rent are also available at the island.
How to get to White Island Camiguin?
From Mambajao Camiguin wharf, you can hire a banka/boat for around 400php roundtrip for the entire boat. From our experience, it was cheaper that we booked the boat through the inn we were checked in at than the price they were offering at the wharf (special price of 200php). But if the inn, resort or hotel is asking for more than 400 bucks for the boat, better book your boat at the wharf. 🙂 Plus a fee of 20php per person to go to the island.
Life vests and snorkel sets are for rent priced at 100php for both at the wharf.
