Love is a four-letter destination named Cebu.

The new Mactan Cebu International Airport brand launch happened earlier, October 2, 2014, at MCIA MIP Lounge. GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) proudly shares today the fresh and new corporate identity for the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), just a month away from its terminal operations take over.

Mactan-Cebu International Airport has a new logo which represents the best of the best that is inherently Cebuano. Eleven elliptical shapes inspired by the ‘bangka’ (paddleboat), the same inspiration for the graceful arches of the envisioned airport terminal building. The shapes, each representing a great aspect of Cebu – food, culture, arts, history, beliefs and people – converge to form a light and airy sun with warmth of Sinulog, infused with it’s yellow, red and orange hues.

“Start Here” completes the GMCAC logo drawing forth exciting beginnings, blissful vacations, fun adventures, and memorable experiences to travelers.

The brand promise will be felt by how airport users will be treated not as passengers but as guests.  MCIA has improved its systems and personnel to ensure an efficient and engaging service for its ultimate clientele – its guests.

GMCAC’s takeover the airport operations will happen on November 1, 2014. During the takeover, passengers and stakeholders can expect an improved service in the existing terminal, T1. Facilities will also be upgraded including an airport village with extensive retail and entertainment options, six contact gates, triple -level in-line baggage screening, four baggage carousels and fourteen escalators. Construction of the second airport terminal, T2, begins in January 2015.

Then a total overhaul of T1 is planned after the completion of T2. With expanded infrastructure, MCIA will then increase its annual passenger capacity to 12.5 million, up from its 4.5 million.

Fully-staffed Customer Services Department to address guests’ concerns in the airport and to ensure a seamless experience.

GMCAC also has engaged upwards of 200 employees for various positions within the organization. And GMCAC employees, being the company’s first-line brand ambassadors, take pride in wearing uniforms designed by Cary Santiago, Cebu’s noted designer to the affluent and chic. His designs proposes a cozy welcome as much as it suggests substance beyond compare.

And one improvement in the MCIA that will surely help make faster immigration reentering process for Philippine Passport Holders are the installation of Passport Scanner Machines located at immigration when re entering the Philippines. So no more lines for us Filipinos, just tap your passport and pass the immigration gate in a jiffy when reentering our home, Cebu. 🙂

Indeed, Love is a four-letter destination named Cebu, waiting to be explored or rekindled. And the experience starts the moment you step out of the plane and to the friendliest gateway to your destination, Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Start Here.  <3
