December 1, 2011. Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa with the hotel’s executives, media and hotel guests shared and experienced the tradition of the lighting of the resort’s Christmas trees. 5 ceiling-high trees adorned with gold Christmas ornaments and warm lights  on the main lobby of the hotel, truly makes it feel Christmas is just around the corner.

Five (5) beautiful Christmas trees were lighted first by,  Mr. Manabu Kubota – treasurer of Friendship Tours and chairman of JATIC. Then followed by Consul Wang Jinyan of China and finally by Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa General Manager Joachim Schutte with wife Christina.

Shangri-La's Christmas Village

Check this car out! original Volkswagen body covered with coconut parts and made it look like wood. Pretty cool huh?

And probably the poshiest and most expensive tree I have seen, Shangri-la Mactan houses a tree ornamented with diamond, ruby and sapphire jewelries! So can you guess how much the tree is worth? If your up to the challenge, then come to Shangri-La and see the tree for yourself and get a chance to win 2 night stays at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa. There would be 3 winners – Third person whose guess is the 3rd closest would win 2 nights at the panorama suite, 2nd closest gets 2 nights at the Shangri-La suite and the closest would be 2 nights at the Presidential Suite. (Crossing my fingers I get to win any of these prizes! hehe) My guess is  2.9 Million pesos, what’s your guess?

Sparkling Hope Tree

Every chance you take on the tree means helping someone get another chance in life. The Shangri-La’s Sparkling Hope project is for the benefit of the ministries of the brothers and sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Submission and final day of guessing would be on the 29th of December and announcement of winners would be on the Shangri-La’s New Year COuntdown Party.
