No. 9 is an ancestral home in E. Benedicto Street, beautifully renovated into a modern dining space with a classic touch of wood, emanating a delightfully cozy and soothed ambiance. The restaurant who’s barely a month old is quite making a buzz for their Mediterranean and Latin wood-fired cuisine – which most people I know who have tried their offerings describe as unique and exclusive.
The bar greeted us as we stepped inside the restaurant and paced along a few tables on the side. We walked to our right and found a real cushy spot on the sofa with a really catchy red and black portrait of 2 brothers. We ordered the Pork Belly, Fideo Negro, Arroz Con Pollo and Morcilla. Took photos of the dining and the al fresco/ garden area as we wait for our food to be served. Veritably a stunning eat-out-chill-out hideaway.
Arroz Con Pollo (410.00php). Wet rice, chicken, pancetta. This so far is my favorite at No. 9. It’s flavorful and hearty.
Pork Belly (Price: 420php) with Wild Arugula and salsa verde. Pork belly baked on wood-fire until outer layer turns gold, then topped with a handful of wild rockets and drizzled with salsa verde dressing. I love arugula and this come second on my No. 9 favorites.
Fideo Negro (Price: 450php). Broken Noodles, squid, chorizo, ink, aioli. Surprised and happy that the dish wasn’t that salty and with the right amount of seafood flavor.
Morcilla ( 280php). Blood sausage, pickled apples, pumpkin.
I love No. 9’s Arroz Con Pollo! And it was a first time to have pork belly paired with arugula which I think is a very good idea! Definitely would be coming back to try the other 2 offerings I haven’t sampled yet and their soon to be additions on the menu.
