I have been scouting different food fairs lately in search for something that intrigues my tastebuds. The recent weekend, I found a good deal on home-baked lace cookies at a weekend market in Mandaue which impeccably match my cup of afternoon coffee. But Arya’s lace cookie wasn’t last week’s only food find. Nah-uh! I swung by Sugbo Mercado for a dozen Briquitos – pistachio and white chocolate almonds half and half, but went home with more vittles than what I originally came for.
A stall away from the silvanas dessert stand is “Pretty Baked.” Originally, selling brownies and cookies, the owners had a bright idea of adding “Munch” to their current bill of fare of confections. Munch gives a fresh spin to the classic French crepe by deep frying it , giving the crepe an interesting bite which starts with a flakey crunch on the outside, transitioning to a soft and silky texture on its inner crepe layers, finishing off with a flavorful center.
Pretty Baked: It’s Launching
15th December of last year, Pretty Baked debuted at Sugbo Mercado selling brownies and cookies. They had a lucrative run, with their bestsellers Chocolate Hunk Cookies and Ballin’ Brownies getting sold out on every stint. Though owners had gone hookey last January to attend school, they bounced back a month after with a crackle – adding Munch to the current menu.
What’s unique about “Munch by Pretty Baked”?
Aside from adding an interesting crisp to the classic crepe, Munch by Pretty Baked supports the Save the Mermaids Movement, an action to lessen the use of disposable plastic. The team makes sure that they stay true to their intention, through the use of reusable plastics only.
Also, two flavors – Monkey Business and Mango Tango, are made with fresh ingredients sourced out daily. Yum!
What’re the five “Munch by Pretty Baked” flavor varieties?
Two of the flavors are made with fruit jams and cream cheese – (1) Strawberry Cheesecake and (2) Blueberry Cheesecake; two with fresh fruits (3) Mango Tango (4) Monkey Business and (5) Smores is made with marshmallows, chocolates and graham. The Pretty Baked team is currently experimenting on new flavors, which they’ll be launching real soon. Something we all can look forward to! 😉
Give in to the crunch of Munch by Pretty Baked every weekend at Sugbo Mercado from 5:00pm – 1:00AM! You can also check ’em out on Facebook: @GetPrettyBaked.
