Spread of over more than 23 hectares of forests, hot springs, sulfur baths and 7 tier waterfalls, Mambukal Mountain Resort is a must visit when in Negros. To get there from the city of Bacolod, hop on a Mambukal bound bus at Libertad Bus Station and arrive at Mambukal Mountain Resort in 45 minutes to an hour. Of course if you have a car to drive you to Murcia Negros Occidental, that would be more convenient. 🙂
The ride to Mambukal Mountain Resort is an attraction itself. You get to see vast plantations of sugarcane and an awesome view of Mt. Kanlaon.
Situated in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia Negros Occidental, Mambukal Mountain Resort was originally developed by Japanese architect Kokichi Paul Ishiwata in 1927. Main attractions that tourists come here for are the waterfalls and the hot sulfur springs which is said to have medicinal attributes.
A fee of 50php will be collected upon entering the resort. We started ascending to the mountain to see the 7- tier waterfalls, unfortunately due to time constraint we have for Mabukal, we only have time to see 6. The climb to the 6 waterfall took us around an hour over lush forests, hanging bridges and steep stairs. And don’t forget to look up and see some fruit bats flying over the lush greens of Mambukal forest.
And at the 6th waterfall, you can do the 2 storey cliff jump on a 12foot- deep cold water. That’s if you have the courage to do so. 😛
Another attraction at Mambukal Mountain Resort is the hot dipping pool. Fee is 50ph.
Also come by Mambukal Mountain Resort every 3rd week of June for the Mudpack Festival where participants wear Mambukal’s multi-colored clay.
