07 June 2018, Mactan Cebu International Airport – Mactan Cebu Intl. Airport’s Terminal 2, the world’s first resort-themed airport, was formally introduced today, giving invited guests a preview of the world-class airport. Read on as I give you a quick list of what makes this airport truly a pride of the Cebuanos.
MCIA T2 has lots of elements that are trademarks of Cebu. Mother-of-Pearls shards are embedded in terrazo flooring that glistens like the sand of Cebu’s beaches when the light hits the floor. Mahogany wood, known for its beautiful grain and durability, is used for the doors and accents in all the washrooms of the new terminal. Check-in counters are accentuated with rattan – a showpiece that gives an excellent mix of Cebuano history and beautiful craftsmanship.
Another astute feature at MCIA T2 is the Moss Walls found at the washrooms. Aside from livening up and taking away the stress from travelling, it also helps stabilize humidity and improve the quality of air. And yes, they are live moss.
MCIA Terminal 2 promises to present a diverse dining selection. A bar situated in the aisle of full-service airlines gates 20-22, restaurants and cafes at the east and west wing of the complex will be on full swing during the airport’s opening. The midst space after the immigration and security check is the Duty Free Center that includes regular sections for liquor, cigar and chocolates, along with a local food and life+style section called Momento that vends delicacies, trinkets & knickknacks, and chic resort clothes & accessories.
The staff of Mactan Cebu International Airport Terminal 2 will be wearing the creations of world-renowned Cebuano fashion designer Cary Santiago. And what better way to welcome or send off guests than a warm, heartfelt Cebuano smile.
The new terminal is scheduled to welcome its first incoming flight at 3AM of 01 July 2018, the arrival of China Eastern’s flight from Shanghai. Terminal 2 is set to cater to incoming and outgoing passengers flying international thereafter.
