Known for being the starting point of home-turned-household-name-restaurants, Guadalupe still has a few secret chow places off its sleeves. Just across CnT Guadalupe, a new bistro by buddies Chef Francis Ed Saberon and Chef Chad Mercado of Las Vegas brought back home some Tex-Mex, Spanish and Italian flavors they eagerly want to share with fellow Filipinos.

Though the red and black theme hints you that it’s a Spanish restaurant, they also have a spread of Tex-Mex and Italian dishes on the menu.

Indeed a great meal to end any hectic day, the team just got to give our readers a little info about the chefs behind All Spice Bistro. Chef Ed, graduated top of his class, was part of the first batch of students at AICA Cebu. Chef Chad is a Fil-Am  has worked in several prestigious kitchens such as Bobby Flay’s restaurant and  took culinary education at Le Cordon Bleu. Awesome meal chefs!

iLearners Brighter Future Project 2013

Learners and kids are thanking you for helping to put the “i” in iShare, iGive, iLearn.

iLearners Inc is proud to have helped students of our adopted schools graduate primary school. iLearners’ Recognition Day consisted of fun games, with sweet little prizes. During the awarding each student was given with his/her medal/s. As an additional thank you for their academic efforts, iLearners presented each of the graduates with a binder to be used for the coming school term. This and all other iLearners activities would not have been possible without the support from our sponsors and we hope to continue working to support this cause geared towards students and learning in the rural parts of Cebu.

School Year 2013-2014 is fast approaching, and again we are asking for your help to support iLearners Brighter Future Program reaching out to 600 students in the rural areas of Cebu. Give the gift of education by donating Php200 for start up supplies for the school year.

Donate today and together let’s help fight rural illiteracy. Please pledge your donations now. 1 start up school pack costs 200php.

In every restaurant you like, there’s always this one thing that will keep you coming back again and again, and at Yakski, it’s the sauce! ^_^

The place is clean and it seems that the owners are so into cleanliness even the waiters have this Lady Gaga-ish mouth cover (which I thought was a microphone at first ’til i asked) to prevent any saliva going into your food. teehee. The food prices? Very competitive, almost the same prices as with the famous Larsian Barbecue Station.

Yakski Barbecue

After ordering your food at the grilling station, you would be given a number and wait ’til your barbecue’s served at your table.

This below is the signature Yakski sauce am talking about! Hahaha. Okay, I dont know how many tablespoon of seasoning is on this but it is flavorfully spicy sweet, it goes well with anything grilled.

For this visit I get to sample the small sized barbecue (7php), big sized barbecue (15php), chorizo (15php) and quarter chicken (65php). Bestsellers are tuna panga and tuna belly which I would definitely be trying on our next visit.

Was impressed on how clean the place is and how the prices are so reasonable. And the best part is that you would not smell like barbecue after your lunch or dinner. Yakski is now on my list of  fave grill houses in Cebu. <3

Obong Cold Spring Dalaguete Cebu

About a two-hour drive or  2.5 – 3 hour bus ride from the city of Cebu, Obong Dalaguete is a perfect destination to cool down this summer. Obong Spring is one of Dalaguete’s natural attractions where the sea and spring meets. Aside from the cool water of Obong Spring, one very notable feature is the 400-year old Dalakit tree, which locals say Dalaguete’s name is derived from.

The place gets really packed on weekends, so if you want to enjoy Obong Spring with just a few people swimming around, go on a weekday. You’ll get charged a hundred bucks to use a table just beside the spring, but we would suggest you bring a picnic mat and set it on the beach just after the parking area and eat there, then after go back to the spring and go for a cool swim. 🙂

Bus: From South Bus Terminal, hop on a bus bound to Dalaguete, and tell the driver that you will be alighting at Obong Spring Dalaguete. The ride’s about 2-3 hours, and if coming from the city, it’ll be at your left side. Watch out for the Obong Spring sign on your left. 🙂

Had a weeklong birthday celebration and my last birthday hurrah for 2013 was a dinner with my family. <3  We love Japanese food and decided to have  yakiniku at Wakamatsu. Without making any reservation, we were lucky to got a table for dinner. Yipeee! (well it’s my birthday celebration so God’s been extra kind to me. :P) But seriously, you should make a reservation when you plan to dine here. For dinner, everything on the menu  is on Eat-All-You-Can (except for the drinks which would be charged and just 1 round of dessert for free). And price is just for 580php. But be sure to order just what you can consume or else you would be charged double. 🙂

Seasoned angus, buttered scallops, squid, maki salad, california maki and chili shrimps would be our top recommendations to order for this restaurant. Chicken was seasoned well too. On top of the awesome food, service is good! <3 This would be one of the restaurants that we would love to visit over and over again. 🙂

Been seeing photos of Sam’s 50’s Diners from my Cebu Doctors University friends’ Facebook and finally got to check the place out with my dad and brother Edd. The 50’s vibe here is really immersing. Stepping inside the restaurant, black and white tiles and the sound of old music embraces you, making you feel you have been transported back in time. The diner’s menu and the ordering area wasn’t that 50’s though. The menu is not all American too  like we expected. They serve asian food like the Korean bibimbap and some dimsum steamed rice as well.

The food prices start at 40php to 175php, not bad at all. We ordered Sizzling Pork Tenderloin, (120Php) , Bibimbap (140php) and Sizzling Burger Steak with Egg (95php).

Sizzling Pork Tenderloin, (120Php). Tender slices of pork tenderloin in gravy sauce.

Bibimbap (140php) . A traditional Korean dish with a Filipino twist. I was used to having my bibimbap with raw egg, but Sam’s 50’s diner version is served with the egg fried. I loved this version too though, after mixing everything on the plate and it’s all good!

Sizzling Burger Steak with Egg (95php). First thing that came to my mind is the tiny size of the burger patty, but when I tasted the burger steak with the creamy buttery gravy , it was really flavorful. A mixed of buttery sweet sauce then melts down to a well seasoned ground beef patty. Yum!

And who doesn’t like milk shakes! Strawberry Milk shake (price:95php) was rocking! Fruit shakes are also available. 6

Satisfied with the taste, we will be back for sure to try their baby back ribs and fish and chips! Thanks for joining us on this pig out session, ’til next time! 🙂
