The Mango Tour

Cebu, and the Philippines, takes pride in its mangoes as it is one of the world’s best tasting mangoes. Dubbed as the Philippine’s National fruit, the Philippine mangoes are juicy and sour when green and unripe and then they turn to bright sunshiny yellow when ripe and are lusciously sweet and juicy!

It’s 12 noon and my siblings and I were shopping for some kitchen stuff at a Japanese store in Parkmall. My sister, after seeing a gyoza maker, suddenly craved for Japanese cuisine for lunch. My brother Edd suggested we try out the new ramen house at JCentre Mall , Kotobukiya.

Kotobukiya

As soon as we enter Kotobukiya Restaurant, we were greeted in Japanese by a waiter then he ushered us to our table. The smell of miso made us hungrier and as soon as we found ourselves settled down in our seats, the menu was handed to us. Really attentive waiter is such a relief specially to very hungry customers. Browsing the menu, I noticed  that there’s no california maki, no sashimi , no sushi and no tempura, making me check and glance back at the paper placemat and it says ” Authentic Japanese Noodles and Curry! ”

Kotobukiya

Wondering how to eat Japanese noodles the right way? Fear not for they have instruction on how to eat Japanese noodles! ^_^

Kotobukiya - How to eat Japanese Noodles

Kotobukiya Radish Salad

Kotobukiya Radish Salad (Price : 55php) Radish and cucumber’s clean taste is flavored with semi sweet rice wine vinegar and dark sesame seed oil  topped with nutty notes of toasted sesame seeds that gives the salad a flavorful crunch.

Kotobukiya Curry Rice

Kotobukiya Curry rice ‘s (190php) picture on the menu might not tickle your craving for curry but you would be intrigued if you get to know what its made of. Kotobukiya Curry uses 100% Japanese apples for their curry paste and uses fine honey to make it tastier. Kotobukiya claims that Japanese kids love this taste. If you like your curry sweet , then am sure you would love Kotobukiya Curry Rice.

Japanese Fried Chicken Set

Just add 85php to your Curry Rice you can avail of Japanese Fried Chicken set. 3 piece chicken breaded meat with rice. Personally I find the taste  a bit blunt so it’s good to squeeze the lemon on the chicken to add a bit of zest to it.

Kotobukiya Miso Ramen

Kotobukiya Miso Ramen with extra chashu (Price: 235php) is the main event of our lunch. The miso soup is full of natural flavors and the smooth thin noodles goes great with the miso soup. The serving is good for sharing.

Kotobukiya Gyoza

5 pieces of Kotobukiya Gyoza at 90php.

My siblings and I enjoyed the ramen experience and it was a great rainy afternoon treat. ^_^

The colorful and  captivating doodle characters on their wall and with the main character resembling much like Chicken Little, Cobo  would be hard to miss when walking around the 1st floor of JCentre Mall.

Cobo

The warm lights accentuating the lively and colorful seats make Cobo more inviting. Cobo JCentre Branch is the 5th branch in the country and the first outside of Metro Manila. When you get to the counter to order, you would notice that Cobo is definitely not just like any other milk tea store or  neither just another store that serves refreshment with tapioca.

Cobo

Cobo is serving milk teas, fruit teas, sea salt milk teas, Cobo  coffees, smoothies, pressed tea, chewsomes and my personal favorites and personal must try recommendations are Cobo Bubble Burstea (available in different flavors) and Cobo Snow Ice (available in solo and to share). Also a must try are Cobo Taro Milk tea and Cobo milk tea (bestseller). And a very thoughtful thing from Cobo is that you get to choose and control how sweet your milk teas would be – mildly sweet, mid or intensely sweet.

Cobo

I would suggest for first timers to order the signature Cobo Milk Tea or Cobo Taro Milk tea(70php for 16 oz and 80php for 22 0z) or a more exciting and definitely sunny choice would be any from Cobo Bubble BursTeas selection(80php for 16oz or 90php for 22oz). Having my first bursting bubble in my mouth, it really made me smile – no bull. I had the strawberry burst (a bursting bubble flavor) on the Cobo Valentine drink and the strawberry flavor just exploded in my mouth. Yum!

Cobo Snow Ice To Share with red bean, strawberry bursting bubble, taro, hanchew caramel, lychee bursting bubble, Green Apple cocochew

Another personal Cobo favorite is the Cobo Snow Ice available in strawberry, honeydew, taro, chocolate, original, mango, green tea and yogurt flavors (solo 40php/ to share 70php). Add Chewsome Combinations at 15php for single, 25php for twin ad 35php for triplets.

We love milk teas and sago/tapioca, so we might be a bit biased about Cobo, teeheee. But frankly speaking, Cobo is exciting and is surprisingly refreshing and truly not just another milk tea store. I will surely be back to taste their Cobo Crunch and other refreshments. And soon to open is Cobo Sm City Cebu branch. 🙂
