Joey BBQ excitingly fuses Korean flavor with an elevated tone of the conventional Filipino barbecue restaurant set-up. This newly opened grill place in Marigondon Road definitely gives the barbecue scene in Mactan a new note. And the best part is, it’s very affordable!
iLuvCebu Team was driving home from a pre-dinner chill at 10,000 Roses Cafe in Cordova, and after overspending on coffee and pizza, we settled to grab dinner somewhere inexpensive. My brother Reymond had suggested that we dine at this new joint along Marigondon Road which he described as a TGI Fridays look-alike/rip-off. hahaha.
Joey BBQ has an indoor dining area, and has three (3) al fresco tables. The place looks really clean, well lighted and organized compared to the barbecue places we Filipinos are used to dining at.
The process of getting a meal at Joey BBQ is the same when ordering at our local barbecue places. First you choose your viands at the counter, have it grilled, order rice and drinks to the waiter, eat and pay when done.
One interesting thing on their selections is the different varieties of pork barbecue. It comes in regular, bulgogi, spicy and chili kebab marinades. And sharing this fun fact about their barbecues; the sticks are actually color coded. Check the bottom of the stick to know if it’s spicy (red), bulgogi (blue) and regular (no color). The coding was implemented to make sure that when cooked, you can still tell the barbecue variety by just looking at the bottom of the sticks.
They also have isaw, porkbelly, chicken and other grill favorites on the menu.
Plus, Joey BBQ serves a complimentary popcorn as you wait for your orders to be served! Nomnom.
