The fun party at Ibiza Beach Club with friends ended up with a spontaneous overnight movie marathon at our house in Mactan. Waking up a little late for breakfast and a tad early for lunch the next day, we decided to drive along Maribago to look for a place to eat brunch, dropping by at Nanay’s The Original Bibingka first, and finally at Mactan Alfresco for some spicy lechon.
The weather has been erratic lately in Mactan – like it’s gloomy last Saturday, yet the next morning was scorching hot. And when the temperature’s high, the craving for something cold and refreshing is at its extreme. So after having some lechon, I suggested we try the new bingsu place along the stretch of Maribago.
Hallo Win is a cute ‘pasalubong’ and novelty shop along Maribago, selling handmade jams and coco chips that are locally made here in Lapu-lapu City. They also serve fruit shakes, coffee and the Korean equivalent of halo-halo, bingsu!
Hallo Win’s bingsu comes in 5 flavor varieties – Hallo-Hallo, Hallo-Mango, Hallo-coco, Hallo-Kakao and Hallo-moringa. What sets their bingsu apart from other Korean dessert shops here in the metro is that they feature local flavors and ingredients like our sweet ripe mangoes, locally made coco chips, kakao and moringga powder. We tried two of the most unique bingsu variety on the menu – Hallo-Coco and Hallo-Moringga.
Hallo Win is now my fave bingsu place in Mactan! Not just because they serve really good iced treats, but the rare and exclusive flavors they serve are exceptionally exciting and heavenly.
Hallo-Coco was served in a coconut shell with milky shaved iced, topped with vanilla ice cream and sprinkled with lots of pounded Maco Coco chips, served with coco cream and condensed milk on the side.
The Hallo-Moringga tastes very similar to Japan’s Green Tea/ Matcha. It’s made of milky shaved ice, sweetened red bean and corn flakes, topped with ice cream and sprinkled with moringga powder. Extra corn flakes and condensed milk was served on the side.
I predict I’ll be back real soon to try the Hallo-Kakao and buy some moringga powder at Hallo Win!
Hallo Win is located at 2 M.L. Quezon National Highway, Maribago M.L. Quezon National Highway, Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu and is open daily from 10AM to 10PM.
