Whoever said we can never be royals? Well, I’ll tell you a little discovery I made today, where I was treated like a prince! Well, at least for the whole Sunday afternoon. 😉
Cafe Tiala is a new concept cafe located at The Forum, where waitresses dress like maids, and treat their guests like majesties. Choose to be seated in one of ten private rooms or walk up to the 2nd level and be social with fellow nobles. A few al fresco seats are also available just before coming in. 😉
And look how cool their menu holders are! Cafe Tiala’s menu offers a wide selection of drinks from iced coffees to teas, smoothies to lattes. They also have some Korean snack favorites and some brunch items on the menu. Let me show you some of the items I tried on the menu, and some recommendations.
I just came from hearing mass, a bit thirsty and a cold fruity drink seemed a perfect afternoon quencher. I love how it’s not sugary sweet but fruity sweet. Felt a few strawberry bits as well. <3
With barely a few hours of sleep for 2 days, I needed a caffeine fix, FAST! And yes, two cups of lattes gave me the boost I needed. Cafe Tiala’s lattes have beautiful coffee arts which give you that guilty feeling of sipping on it and smudging the art. 😛 Coffee concoctions are unique to the cafe as its created by the owner and the beans are imported from Italy.
The House Specialty Sandwich, the Tiala Sandwich (179php). Ham and cheese sandwich with their home made specialty sauce with greens and fruit on the side. And hey, just add 50php when ordering this one (or any food) and get to order Americano, Iced tea, select sodas, herb tea or hot choco.
Gimbab, 129php. Made with steamed white rice with carrots, cucumber and eggs,” Gimbab is a very popular Korean snack,” says Ivy – Cafe Tiala’s owner.
Ttekbokki, 129php. I know you are having a hard time reading the name, I can totally relate. haha. This is another Korean snack favorite made with rice and fish cakes in hot sauce. I would say this is not for everyone, but for the more adventurous ones, try it! I noticed how the chili doesn’t stick to your tongue like our local chilies It just fades away after a few seconds to a minute.
And to finally wash everything down, I have a pot of “Hurb” tea. I had a pot of rooibos herb tea, which according to the menu has anti aging properties. Well, with my birthday coming up, I planned to keep my forever twenteen look and drank the whole pot of tea. Teehee.
After my piggin out session in my own little quater at Cafe Tiala, I walked around the cafe to meet some fellow royals. haha. So in one of the private quarters, I met this 3 friendly folks playing some Korean pop songs and a young Filipina lady who speaks Korean very well, having a foot massage and playing PS3.
Cafe Tiala came from the words cafe and tiara. Guests get to wear tiaras/crowns when coming in, have maids treat you like shahs and enjoy their coffee/tea like royals.
As i was leaving my mini castle, I bade farewell to my maids and said, “Prepare for my return in a week. Be sure to have some ramen, Miss Korea Toast and a Mocha latte with an adorable miming art on my homecoming!”
