BTC’s Kurama Himatsuri
October 26, 2012, Friday. With Cebu openly embracing the culture and art of cosplaying with warmth, Banilad Town Center supports the young (and the young at heart) in displaying their skills and creativity through the medium with a pre Halloween celebration, Kurama Himatsuri.
Kurama Himatsuri is a huge energetic fire festival takes place in October of each year in Japan. Its purpose is to illuminate the path through the world of the living for the spirits of the departed and celebrated to give a clear guide and path for the living. Banilad Town Center commemorates the celebration with a cosplay competition and highlighted by cadencies of one of Cebu’s best drumbeaters Sugbuanon together with the trio fire dancers, Monotopia.
Opening BTC’s Kurama Himatsuri celebration was “BTC’s Cosplay Metro” photoshoot slideshow by Cebu’s top cosplay photographers Ygie Aniban and Homer Medici, with works featured in both national and international cosplay magazines. BTC’s Cosplay Metro showcased how fun and versatile Banilad Town Center as one of the metro’s top culture hub for food, shopping and hobbies.
The fire festival continues as BTC gave away prizes and surprises to the cosplay registrants who got to take home Halloween goodies and gift certificates to the lucky registrants whose numbers were called out during the raffle. Mr. Olive C 2012 candidates, Zanjo Sevilla and Alex Estrada and Philippine Street Fashion blogger Marco Diala, picked out the cosplayers who embodied and personified the characters they were portraying best. Best Male Cosplayer was awarded to Mr. Gary Montejo cosplaying as Steam Punk Mario, Best Female Cosplayer was awarded to Eloise Daniot cosplaying Queen of Hearts, Lexine Chantelle Shockey as Ms. Franky was awarded Best Kid Cosplayer and The Best Group/ Skit was a tie between Oversoul and the Princesses.
BTC’s Kurama Himatsuri Online Photo Contest were awarded to Claire Ann Juezan for the most number of likes and BTC’s Choice is Kaye Beverly Go.
