Lando at Bugoy

Championing Filipino talents, Ayala Center Cebu hosts for the first time, entries that will compete in the 12th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival with the theme, “Break the Surface.” The prestigious annual film festival takes a monumental step this year as it brings Cinemalaya outside Luzon.

Ayala Malls Cinemas’ first collaboration with Cinemalaya dates back to July 2011, paving easy access for festival goers within the metro. Catering the festival’s followers from the south, Cinemalaya widens its reach to its Cebu patrons.

Presented by Cinemalaya Foundation and the Cultural Center of the Philippines with Ayala Malls Cinemas, Sinulog Foundation and the Local Government of Cebu, Cinemalaya will display 19 films in competition, in the Full Length Feature and Short Feature categories from August 9 to 14 at the Ayala Center Cebu Cinema 4.

This year’s film festival will open with a special program on Tuesday, August 9, 5 p.m. at The Gallery. Two competition films in the full length feature category: Atom Magadia’s Dagsin and Vic Acedillo’s Lando at Bugoy will open the festival at 6:15 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., respectively.  Directors Magadia, Acedillo and some cast members are set to fly in to interact with the audience after the screening. Movie passes for both screenings on this date will be on a first-come, first-served basis and are free to the public.
