Cebu, or Sugbu in our vernacular(Cebuano), is a province of the Philippines consisting of Cebu Island and 167 surrounding islands. Its is located east of Negros and west of Bohol and Leyte.
Mactan, Bantayan, Camotes, Caohagan and Sumilon are a few of the islands (which are still part of Cebu Province) that surround the main island of Cebu.
We, Cebuanos, are said to be warm, accommodating and friendly – though the way we speak is a bit stronger (tone-wise) than that of the people from the country’s capital, it’s not at all true that Cebuanos are braggarts. 😉 We are actually chummy and amicable, contrary to the misconception.
Cebuanos love to eat (well who doesn’t, hehe). Being in the heart of the country, food gets really interesting. From original Cebuano cuisine, to a mix of tastes from neighboring provinces to asian fusion and international dishes, Cebu has it all! It’s a melting pot of gastronomic delights!
And the best thing about Cebu? Proximity! When you are stressed out, the beach is an hour drive from almost everywhere in the city or if you want to feel the breeze brush your hair and rush in between your fingers, the mountains are just minutes away!
Cebu is <3!
