By now you might be wondering how’s the weather going to be like this Sunday, in time for the grand Sinulog festivities. Consulted Accuweather to answer this inquiry, and also called PAG-ASA Mactan for the weather forecast this Sunday.

Accuweather reads the condition to be cloudy with a few showers, the same forecast PAG-ASA had relayed to me over the phone. “Cloudy with a few showers.”
Percentage of precipitation is at 74% so there’s a big chance that it’ll really rain- either a light rain for 2-3 hours, moderate rain for 30-60 minutes or heavy rain for 15 minutes.

It’s good to take precautions just in case it rains during Sinulog. So here’re some tips to fully enjoy a wet Sinulog 2017.

1. Bring a raincoat/ Rain Poncho
If you are not willing to shower in the rain, then better bring one. Umbrellas are not advisable since the rib tip/ferrule might hit people when walking on packed streets.

2. Waterproof your Gadgets
Be sure that you do this. Rain or shine, you’re going to get a li’l wet and real dirty with diluted paint and poster paint. You can buy those waterproof pouches at department and gadget stores. You may also use a zip lock (sandwich size) to waterproof your phones. Practical and effective!
A weather proof bag would also be very helpful.

3. Wear Comfortable Shoes
Sinulog
is more fun when exploring the streets of Cebu City, and that involves walking – A LOT OF WALKING! So make sure to wear a comfy pair of footwear that you are okay with to get soiled. Avoid wearing flipflops to lessen the chance of getting dead toe nails.  Teehee

4.  Apply only Non-toxic Paints
If you plan to bring paint, please use only the non-toxic ones. Rain may dilute them and some might get into the eyes which may be harmful. And yes, please use the bright colored ones too . 😉

5. Set meet-up point beforehand
With a huge concentration of people in the city, network congestion is expected, resulting to a delay in SMS and call service, and also an extra, super slow data service from all networks. So be sure to set a meet-up point with your friends ahead. Also, set a specific rendezvous spot just in case anyone from the group gets separated.

6. Hydrate
Be sure to hydrate. Bring atleast a liter of water with you. Bottled water are available throughout the city, but don’t expect it to be cheap during the festivities. Let’s say, a 250ml bottle which costs about Php8 in the grocery would cost you around Php30 when you buy from the vendors along the streets. And please don’t be litterbugs and hold your trash until you find a garbage bin.

Have a fun and safe Sinulog everyone!
