Mactan Cebu International Airport Check-in Counters

Have you ever lost anything at the airport? Boarded your flight to find out you left your mobile phone at the check-in counter? Maybe forgot to grab your belt or wallet from the basket at the X-ray baggage scanner booth? Or got home to find out you failed to pull out one of your checked-in baggages from the carousel? Yes, these unfortunate episodes do happen. Today, I compiled a list of the 10 things lost, left and confiscated in Mactan Cebu International Airport. Don’t worry, I’ll also tell you the process on how to retrieve the lost and found items at the end of this blogpost. 😉

10 Things Frequently Lost/Left/Confiscated at Mactan Cebu International Airport

1.) Clothes

Most clothes that are left at the airport are dumped intentionally by passengers who went overboard their checked-in baggage allowances. Some would accidentally leave their jackets or coats at the x-ray baggage scanner booths or at the waiting lounges.

Clothes found at the airport would be at the lost and found storage room for three months, and if unclaimed will be donated to MCIA’s chosen charity.

2.) Bottle of perfumes and toiletries

100ml Bottle of perfumes and toiletries and over are confiscated at the final security check before boarding. So always remember to check-in any 100ml receptacles/containers/bottles and liquids.

Confiscated perfumes and toiletries will be destroyed and disposed as security restricted items.

3.) Neck Pillows

Neck pillows are mostly left by passengers at the x-ray counters and waiting lounges.

Neck Pillows found at the airport would be at the lost and found storage room for three months, and if unclaimed will be donated to MCIA’s chosen charity.

4.) Hats, belts, watches and other accessories

Watches and belts are often left at the X-ray baggage scanner area where passengers tend to be in a hurry and run to their check-in counters after going through the security check, leaving some of their valuables at the x-ray basin.

Hats, belt, watches and other accessories found at the airport would be at the lost and found storage room for three months, and if unclaimed will be donated to MCIA’s chosen charity.

5.) Export Products

Some shells and other export items are not allowed to be brought out of the country without permit.

Export products confiscated at the X-ray baggage scanner will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs.

 

6.) Food items

Meat items on coolers or boxes of fruits at the airport are a few food items that are left behind by passengers at the airport. Unclaimed food items after 24 hours will be disposed.

7.) Cellular phones and other mobile gadgets

Again, many mobile phones and gadgets are often left at the X-ray baggage scanner area where passengers tend to be in a hurry and run to their check-in counters after going through the security check, leaving some of their valuables.

8.) Umbrellas

Umbrellas are usually left at the check-in counters, waiting lounge or the baggage carousel.

9.) Plants

Plants without permit will be confiscated and will be turned over to Department of Agriculture.

10.) Wallets

And yes, sometimes people tend to forget their wallets too.

If you lost anything in Mactan Cebu International Airport and would like to check if your items have been found, one may do the following procedures:

(A) If you are still in Cebu

A.1.  Call MCIA Security Office at 34042486 local 1130 to report your lost item. Be ready to give the description of the item and  the details on when you lost it.

A.2. Go to MCIA Security Office, located at the Arrival Area, near the metered-taxi bay. Claiming of Lost and Found Items is from Mondays to Fridays from 9:AM to 6:30PM.

A.3. Be sure you have proof of ownership of lost items; If item does not bear any name, one must be able to give details of the item.

A.4. Be sure to bring your I.D.s (Passport, Driver’s License, and other government issued IDs.)

(B) If you are not in Cebu 

B.1. You need a representative in Cebu to claim the lost item. Have him/her bring  a printed authorization letter, containing a description of the lost item/s and details of when you lost the item/s, together with a printed copy of your Identification and your representative’s original identification cards.
