2011 truly was an eye opener for me. So much had happened it pushed me to grow stronger and wiser. Now 2012 has come, new hope for everyone and a new chapter in our lives is yet to be written and to be told. Let’s all be brave in facing 2012 and be better for ourselves and for others.  Closing last year’s phase is a list of my top 5 lessons learned, realizations and things that made me better in 2011 which I want to share with you guys. ^_^

#Resist

5th on my list is KEEP YOURSELF HAPPY.  Make a list of people, things and activities that makes you happy and every time you are down, just pick one from your list and do it! Learn to appreciate little things. Resist being a sour grape. And when you’re happy, then you’d be able to spread happiness to others. Happiness is contagious,so be sure to smile a lot and keep yourself happy. ^_^

Here's a list I posted on my tumblr last year about the things that console me

Didn’t realize til last year that Crab People really do exist! The type of people that if they can’t have it , neither can you. 4th on my list - Resist Crab Mentality. Let’s all learn to be happy for the success of others. Do what you love to do and be the best in what you do without stepping on other people’s shoes. And if you attain the success, be sure to be thankful and show gratitude to all the people that helped you attain your success. Stay humble and down-to-earth.

3rd on my list - Resist being Feckless. Write with a purpose and be responsible. I, obviously, love Cebu. ^_^. I grew up here, made so000 many friends, whom I consider family. I share all my wonderful experiences,  and not so wonderful experiences, to the world by blogging them here at www.iluvcebu.com, tumblr ,  my Facebook accounts Doyzkie and Doyzkiedos and my twitter. I blog for the purpose of sharing my love for Cebu, simple! But blogging comes with responsibilities too. What we post should not be misleading and unsubstantial. Cyber bullying also is rampant these days. Though some writers find it really amusing for their site views would sky rocket in no time, but can you imagine how it affects their victims? Resist Cyber Bullying. Don’t believe any rumors without any substantial proof. Would you be happy if you are the one cyber bullied? Think before you post! ^_^

2nd on my list - Resist looking for a good friend and be one. Looking for a good friend is really hard, so why not be a good friend to everyone instead of looking for one? Treat people right , the way you want to be treated. And always be reminded that revenge is never a solution. Two wrongs would not make (never) things right. So when you say sorry, mean it. And when you accept an apology from someone be sure you don’t have any intentions of backstabbing or orchestrating a revenge plan. ^_^

1st on my list – Resist being a mediocre. We know that we can do whatever we put our minds into, all we need is the will power and the right attitude. Let’s put things into action and do not delay. Like most of us, we just keep on complaining. But why not stop complaining and think of a solution and be part in solving our crisis. Like for example, we keep on complaining and blaming our government for almost every unfortunate things that happen to our country. Why not think of a solution that can help solve the crisis. It may be a small effort or may not be enough to solve the entire problem but it does help. Imagine if all Filipinos would do our part in solving the problem instead of complaining! ^_^

In my case, I chose to help though education. My father, being a single parent of 4, made it a point that we go to the best school he can afford because for him education is important not just for ourselves but also for how we  interact with people and how we can contribute to our community.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.-Chinese Proverb. Me together with the rest of iLearners had been helping around 450 primary students in the rural areas of Cebu with their schooling and giving them hope and chance – letting them know that there is something better for them that would help their families have better lives someday.

So what’s your #Resist list to become better this 2012 and the years to come?

Wow! This is an awesome new year’s resolutions list. And I’d definitely agree with all of them; especially advocacy for education. Education is something you can have that others cannot take away from you and this is the key to a brighter future for both man and country. :D
