Just 2 doors away from Tio Cococ’s Bar and Restaurant, is one of Davao’s best dessert places, Osvaldo’s Cakes. Opening way back in October 2011 at Door # 7 of Paseo De Legaspi, Pelayo St., Davao City, Osvaldo’s cakes is known for creating edgy and artistic cakes using only the finest ingredients.
The bakeshop is designed as a kitchen so it can be used as one. Osvaldo’s Cakes Bakeshop has an open feel to it as the owners wanted to imbibe a much more personal interaction with guests. Guests can walk-in and share the counter with the bakers or take away few slices of cakes on display.
One of the very notable pieces when entering the bakery is these festively wrapped brownies. The Absolute Fudge Brownies makes use of Malagos Cocoa. Dark and earthy chocolate with a soft and smooth texture that just melts in your mouth, yum! Price: 80php
And here’s a few of the awesome cakes I have sampled during my visit at Osvaldo’s Cakes.
Owned by siblings Joel and Jose Marie Rodriguez with wife Dindin, Joel is the main man in the bakeshop and the couple as business consultants.
Joel went to several baking classes with Pastry chefs namely Jill Sandique, Dorothy Ferreria and BooBoo Maramba. He formally learned Cake Decorating at the Wilton School of Cake Decorating in Woodridge, Illinois, USA.
When in Davao, give in to the temptation and have a slice or two at Osvaldo’s Cakes!
